Why are reminders late or missing on my Android phone?
This guide covers calendar and event reminders in HijriAnchor. Android notification and power controls can delay or silence a reminder. Check the items below in order, then test on your phone. Menu names vary by device, system version and language.
1. Check the event and reminder
Open HijriAnchor. Confirm the saved date, time and reminder setting, together with your phone’s clock and time zone. Make sure the reminder is due in the future.
2. Allow notifications and check sound
In Android Settings, find HijriAnchor’s app notification settings. Allow notifications; Android 13 and later may ask for notification permission. Check the reminder notification category/channel, its sound and notification volume. Review silent mode and Do Not Disturb. If your installed version offers an important-alarm mode, also check alarm volume and whether your Do Not Disturb settings allow alarms.
3. Check precise scheduling, if offered
If your installed version requests Alarms & reminders access or provides a reminder diagnostics/settings link, follow it. Android 12 and later have rules for exact alarms; the available permission and controls depend on the OS and app version. Access may already be allowed, or no separate toggle may appear. Reopen HijriAnchor after changing it and check the reminder again.
4. Review device background controls
If reminders still fail, check the relevant manufacturer settings below for HijriAnchor only. Allow auto-start/background activity or choose a less restrictive battery mode where your phone offers it. Changing background restrictions can increase battery use; it does not guarantee that every reminder will fire.
Manufacturer settings
These are settings to look for, not one universal menu path. Use Settings search or the current manual for your model if a label is missing.
OPPO · ColorOS
Look for App info → Battery usage or App battery management. Where available, allow background activity and check Auto launch/Auto-start for HijriAnchor. Labels and available switches vary across ColorOS releases.
OnePlus · OxygenOS
Look for app battery management and any Allow background activity or battery optimisation setting for HijriAnchor. Auto-launch may be a separate option on some releases. Do not assume an OPPO menu path is identical on every OnePlus model.
vivo · Funtouch OS / OriginOS
Look for background power management and Auto-start in Settings or iManager. Choose the setting that permits HijriAnchor to work in the background where it is offered. The location and names vary by model, region and OS.
Xiaomi · MIUI / HyperOS
Look for Background autostart/Autostart and the app’s Battery saver setting. Where available, allow auto-start and try No restrictions for HijriAnchor. Some versions also offer an optional lock in Recents.
5. Recents is different from Force stop
Swiping an app away from Recents is different from using Force stop in Android app settings. Some phones also restrict work when clearing recent apps. Locking HijriAnchor in Recents is an optional device-specific measure, not a replacement for permissions. After Force stop, reopen HijriAnchor, check the saved reminder and run a new test.
6. Test a reminder with the screen locked
After changing settings, set a reminder due a few minutes ahead using the options in your installed app. Lock the screen and check whether the alert appears and sounds, without force-stopping the app. If it is late or missing, contact support with your phone model, Android/system version, HijriAnchor version, test time and what happened. Avoid sending private event titles or notes.
Settings can improve reliability, but device behaviour and system restrictions still matter. Change only what is needed for HijriAnchor and review battery use afterwards.
Why do reminders sometimes ring only after I unlock my phone? How do I enable important reminders while the screen is locked?
Some phones restrict background work, which can delay an alert until the phone becomes active. These checks apply to event reminders and the Important alarm option where your installed HijriAnchor version offers it. The OPPO paths below come from a reported device test; menus vary by model, region and OS version.
1. Choose an important reminder for the event
Enable a reminder in the event and select Important alarm · keeps ringing, if available. Check the event time, advance reminder and Ring for up to duration. For example, a 06:30 event with a 10-minute advance reminder is due at 06:20, in the event’s time zone.
2. Allow notifications and the alarm category
Allow HijriAnchor notifications, including Important event alarms if that category appears. If the installed app requests Alarms & reminders access, make sure it is allowed. A separate permission switch is not shown on every Android/app version.
3. Check background activity separately
The reported OPPO test used: Settings → Apps → App management → HijriAnchor → Battery usage → Allow background activity. Look for the option that allows HijriAnchor to work in the background; use Settings search if your phone’s menus differ.
4. Check auto-launch as a separate setting
On that OPPO phone, the separate path was: Settings → Apps → Auto launch → HijriAnchor. Allowing auto-launch and allowing background activity are different controls. Check both where offered; do not disable battery management globally.
5. Check alarm volume and Do Not Disturb
Set alarm volume above zero and allow alarms in Do Not Disturb. Important alarm uses the phone’s system-default alarm ringtone and alarm volume; it may differ from a custom sound chosen for one alarm in the Clock app. Ordinary notification reminders use notification sound settings. HijriAnchor does not raise your volume or override Do Not Disturb.
6. Reopen the app and test while locked
Reopen HijriAnchor, check the next reminder and create a test due a few minutes ahead. Lock the screen. Check that an important reminder sounds without unlocking and stops within the selected maximum ring duration; stopping it yourself or a system interruption may end it sooner. Avoid Force stop; after using it, reopen the app and check future reminders again.
Saved event reminders are scheduled on the device and do not need internet to trigger. Account, purchase and new-template functions have separate network requirements described in the privacy policy. Background settings can increase battery use, and on-time delivery is not guaranteed in every device state.
If the problem continues, send support your model, system and HijriAnchor versions, event time, advance-reminder interval, and whether the sound started only after unlocking. Do not send passwords or private event content.
